Beijing, Jan 21 –– Construction and preparatory work for Universal Beijing Resort progressed smoothly in 2019, with impressive results in construction, team member recruitment, technological innovation, and infrastructure construction. In 2019, Universal Beijing Resort also unveiled the creative vision of bringing seven highly themed and immersive lands along with incredible experiences to China.

Main structure completed, world-class resort destination rises from the ground

The construction of Universal Beijing Resort is progressing smoothly with fruitful results. To date, nearly half of the resort’s overall construction has been completed, with entire main structure completed. Attraction equipment including rides and other facilities is now under installation phase. Universal Studios Grand Hotel, NUO Resort Hotel – Universal Beijing Resort, Universal CityWalk Beijing and parking garages have already been capped.

Universal Beijing Resort leveraged technological innovation throughout its construction. For example, the application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology in the creation of parking structures allowed for a digitalized process from planning to execution, in turn reducing tens of millions of construction cost. Green construction and green construction site are highlights throughout the construction process. Universal Beijing Resort has greatly reduced the floating dust generated during construction through various measures. To date, nearly 400 million yuan has been invested in dust control.

Universal Beijing Resort’s official recruitment website went live in May 2019, officially kicking off the talent recruitment and training processes for the 14,000 job openings that will be created by the time phase one launches. In addition, Universal Beijing Resort has established cooperation LOI with ten local schools including outstanding vocational schools in the areas of entertainment and performing arts, safety and security, hospitality management and cultural tourism in order to help the resort's talent recruitment and cultivation, while promoting the talent reserve of cultural tourism industry. In 2019, Universal Beijing Resort announced the strategic partnership with the Alibaba Group. With the support from Alibaba’s smart technology, cloud solution programs and digitalized platforms, Universal Resort Beijing will provide visitors with a seamless experience throughout every stage of the guests’ journey and employ facial recognition technologies to create a next-generation theme-park. The partnership will not only significantly improve visitor experience, but also promote the digital innovation of theme parks and resorts.

Universal Beijing Resort is also exploring the application of a wide range of technological innovations in different scenarios. For example, Universal Beijing Resort developed a flexible and scalable IT management system to support the park’s regular operations. As a pilot platform for 5G infrastructure, Universal Beijing Resort will be pioneer and implement full 5G network coverage. Throughout 2020, all technology systems will gradually become ready for the grand opening in 2021.
