Beijing, December 31 - Universal Beijing Resort announces the completion of major construction on the theme park, and is now moving full-speed ahead in preparation for the highly anticipated grand opening in 2021.

Taking to the stage at this year’s BRTV (Beijing Radio and Television) Global New Year Ice and Snow Night Gala (BRTV New Year Gala), Universal Beijing Resort dazzled viewers with a splendid first-ever view unveiling parts of the resort’s signature attractions and landmarks, as well as extraordinary themed programs with popular IP characters on stage. It was a special occasion for Universal Beijing Resort representatives, including executives and construction teams, as they announced the major milestone on stage together, and expressed sincere respect and gratitude to more than 100,000 construction workers for their concerted efforts day and night.

“Under the guidance and strong support of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, after several years of high-level and high-quality construction work, the major construction of Universal Studios Beijing theme park and resort’s facilities have been completed,” said Wang Tayi, General Manager of Beijing International Resort Co., Ltd. “With the joint efforts of the China-US team on construction, design, engineering and technological innovations, Universal Beijing Resort is committed to creating a destination as a new landmark of Beijing, with rich cultural heritage and promoting the integrative development of culture and tourism.”

“Thanks to the diligence from all constructors and creatives in achieving the construction completion, we are now entering the stage of full operations preparations, to ensure a one-of-a-kind experience for guests from China and beyond as we prepare for the opening in 2021,” said Tom Mehrmann, General Manager of Beijing International Resort Co., Ltd. Theme Park and Resort Management Branch. “We put significant thought into the experiences we create for our guests, and we look forward to creating unique and contemporary experiences for millions of guests. We are presently working hard on delivering on our promise, ensuring guests will have the best time of their lives.”

During the next operational preparation phase, the entire operations team will continue to prepare to deliver a high standard of guest service. Interior details including detail work on themed settings, rides and facilities testing, digital system implementation and guest-facing system testing, as well as entertainment talents casting, training, and rehearsal are also underway. Service and security training will be completed during this time to refine and perfect the overall guest experience after grand opening.

Universal Beijing Resort represents a historic partnership that has been in the making for more than a decade. More than 100,000 construction workers, more than 500 designers and artists, and more than 500 suppliers and partners from around the world jointly made the project possible. Engineering and technological innovations had also been created and leveraged throughout these several years of high-level and high-quality construction work.

Several entertaining highlights of Universal Beijing Resort were featured during the BRTV New Year Gala. From a glamorous bird's eye view on the New Year Eve night, the Gala showcased Universal Beijing Resort’s first look from Universal CityWalk Beijing to hotels and several signature attractions and landmarks in several of the seven lands, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and Transformers: Metrobase. Inspired by spectacular themed stories and characters, audiences also enjoyed themed performances within the themed locations and alongside popular characters such as Transformers, Illumination’s Minions, DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda and more.
